The challenge

A made-to-order range is bigger than any showroom.

Every Darlings sofa is made to order: a fabric or leather, a leg finish, piping, scatter cushions. Four showrooms cannot hold that many combinations, and a customer buying a sofa for the next decade wants to see the one they are actually ordering.

The approach

Every product, configurable in 3D.

Orbital Vision hosts the catalogue on OV25, and the configurator runs on every made-to-order product page. Fabric, legs, piping and cushions change on the sofa as they are chosen, and customers can spin it, fill the screen or put it in their own room.

The renders

A million renders. Rebuilt as the range changed.

Orbital Vision has rendered over a million cut-outs for Darlings, the library rebuilt many times over as products and fabrics changed. They come from the same models the configurator uses, so the range never waits on a photoshoot.

The detail

Open the bed. Change the feet.

The mechanisms are modelled, not photographed. A sofa bed folds out on the model itself, feet change through six finishes, and piping switches to a contrast colour, all on the piece already on screen.

The outcome

One model. Every fabric, everywhere.

The same models carry the product across the site. Pick a fabric and the size switcher, the fabric listings and the basket all show it in that fabric, rendered rather than shot.
